Mumbai, Sept 06: Controversial film ‘Ek chhoti si love story’ was today released in some theatres here despite a high court ban even as actress Manisha Koirala threatened to drag the exhibitors to the court for violation of judicial order.
The film was released in theatres including new empire, Galaxy, chitra, chandan, cinemax and Imax. In New Empire, the 1.15 show was screened, its manager said.
According to Sham Shroff of Shringar Films, distributor of the movie, 95 prints have already been circulated to the exhibitors all over the world.
These prints were given before the court verdict and it was difficult to recall them at this stage. Some of the prints have gone abroad for screening, he said.
Koirala`s lawyer Satish Maneshinde, however, threatened to drag the exhibitors and theatre owners to the court if they violated the judicial order banning the film`s screening.
He warned that the actress would file defamation case and also urge the court to seize the prints which were already circulated.
According to a report, a theatre in Ulhasnagar released the film last night and show was reported to be housefull with black marketeers selling ticket for a price ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.
Shiv Sena sources said that the actress was likely to meet party supremo Bal Thackeray to seek his help in preventing the theatres from screening the movie.
