Chandigarh, Aug 10: The Haryana Police have registered 3147 criminal cases during the fortnight ending July 31 as against 3504 cases registered during the corresponding period last year, thus showing a marked improvement in the law and order situation in the state.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) R M Chahalia said here that the police also recovered stolen property worth Rs 91.63 lakh and arrested 3773 persons during the period.
The police also succeeded in getting conviction for 341 alleged criminals and recovered an amount of Rs 2.56 lakh from 297 gamblers and satta players nabbed during the period. As regards crime against women, police worked out 170 cases out of 190 cases registered during this period as against 441 cases registered during the corresponding period last year.
