Busan, Sept 28: Nasrat al Jamal scored with just two minutes remaining to give Lebanon a deserved point in a 1-1 draw against Qatar in Group E of the Asian Games Football tournament here today.
Careless defending by the Gulf side proved their undoing when they failed to clear their lines and after his first shot was charged down, al Jamal seized his chance to bury the ball via a deflection past Salman al Ansari in the Qatar goal.
Until that point, it had seemed that Qatar's first-half goal would be enough to give them the three points and a vital boost in their hopes of qualifying from a group which also includes Iran who had earlier demolished Afghanistan 10-0.
Before that it had been Lebanon who looked the most likely to score with Bilal Hajo and Abbas Atwi both coming close to finding the net but shot wide while Heitham Zein got behind the flat-footed defence but fell to the ground as he was about to shoot.
But his disappointment at that miss was quickly erased as he hit the late leveler to give his side a point.
