New Delhi, May 04: The report on the findings of the two-member Election Commission team which probed into the complaints of rigging in Chapra Lok Sabha constituency is being prepared. "The team has returned to Delhi and the report is under preparation and it will be placed before the commission for appropriate decision", EC spokesman A N Jha told reporters.
Replying to question as to when the decision would be taken by the commission on the report, he said "no time or date has been decided".
The team, comprising EC adviser K J Rao and principal secretary Ananth Kumar, was on a two-day fact finding mission to the constituency, after BJP demanded countermanding of polls in the sensitive constituency where RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav and Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy were locked in a fierce fight.
The BJP had alleged largescale rigging and violence by Yadav's supporters during polling on April 26.
While Yadav had denied any irregularities and violence by his supporters on the polling day, the BSP and SP yesterday joined BJP in demanding countermanding of the polling there.
Jha said the EC has ordered shifting of returning officer-cum-district magistrate and police superintendent of Bihar's Banka district Rashid Ahmed Khan and K M Lal, with immediate effect following complaints of violation of the model code of conduct on charges of sharing dias with Chief Minister Rabri Devi.
Union minister of state for external affairs Digvijay Singh, who is contesting from the seat, had lodged a complaint with the EC against the two officials.
