Army concert for Kalam
New Delhi, Aug 31: An army band today put up a scintillating concert for its supreme commander President A P J Abdul Kalam at Siri Fort Auditorium here.
New Delhi, Aug 31: An army band today put up a scintillating concert for its supreme commander President A P J Abdul Kalam at Siri Fort Auditorium here.
The band comprising 96 personnel using 21 instruments played Indian rock music, international waltz foxtrot and fusion music to enthrall a packed auditorium which included Defence Minister George Fernandes, Army chief N C Vij, Air Marshal S Krishnaswamy and navy chief Admiral Madvendra Singh, foreign diplomats and others.
The concert was conducted by army's principal conductor Major Nazir Hussain and included Indian melody, old time favourites like "abide with me" and modern rock. In a touching end to an almost two-hour long concert, the band played "Aye mere vatan ke logon" as a shradhanjali to martyr soldiers.
