Chennai, Oct 15: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa said today the attack on Mayiladuthurai Congress
MP, Mani Shankar Aiyar, near Karaikal on Monday, was
stage-managed to gain political mileage and public sympathy
and it would be 'unjust and unfair' to blame AIADMK for it.
"Only a police investigation will reveal what really
transpired. Prematurely condemning AIADMK men before the
results of the investigation are known is both unjust and
unfair," she said in her first reaction to the incident.
Seeking to turn the tables on Aiyar, the AIADMK leader
said in a statement that Mani Shankar Aiyar 'deliberately'
arrived late for the function and came up to her and 'abused'
her in 'filthy and unprintable language' in English.
'I do not want to repeat the words he used because no self-respecting lady would ever use such demeaning language.'
The State Assembly Speaker who was seated 'next to me, heard everything that Aiyar said and the speaker is a witness to what happened then,' she said, adding what followed later were all 'deliberately created and stage-managed in a pathetic attempt to gain political mileage.' Bureau Report
