The kidnap of shoe baron Partha Pratim Roy was masterminded by Dubai-based mafia don Aftab Ansari with the operations closely linked to banned terrorist organisations like the Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami besides the ISI, a senior police said on Wednesday.
Aftab carried out the July 25 abduction through the head of his operations in India, Asif Raja Khan alias Rajan, now under arrest, inspector general of police, CID, Partha Bhattcharjee told newsmen in Kolkata.

Rajan, who was trained by the Laskar-e-Toiba in Pakistan, came in contact with Masood Azhar, the founder of Jaish-e- Mohammed in Tihar jail. Rajan was serving a sentence for smuggling a huge consignment of explosives and arms on the Indo-Pak border in Gujarat during a raid by the CBI and BSF, Bhattacharjee said.

“The network run by Aftab, was a multi-tier operation which included fixing target, planning, execution, post-execution plans, shelters, disposal, realisation and laundering of ransom besides procurement of arms and ammunition for anti-national activities,” the IGP said.
