Kathmandu, April 13: Four major political parties in Nepal today boycotted an all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand to discuss the formation of talks committee initiating peace talks with the Maoists.
Only Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Nepal Sadbhvana Party (Mandal) representing the dissolved house participated in today's all party meeting.
Besides Chand, deputy prime minister Badri Prasad Mandal, RPP president Pashupati Shumsher Rana and RPP central committee member Jog Meher Shrestha were among those who participated in the meeting.
"The government will form a talks committee which will include the members of the present cabinet only," Shrestha said adding that a high-level talks direction committee consisting of members of all the political parties will be formed.

On whether the parties will send their representatives in the direction committee, Shrestha said some alternative arrangement will be made if they did not take part.
"The government will form the talks committee in a few days," he said adding that a decision to this effect will be made by the cabinet meeting

Meanwhile, four major parties including Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party-UML, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Janamorcha Nepal, which boycotted today's meeting have organised a joint meeting at the central office of CPN-UML at Balkhu, here today.

During the joint meeting they discussed about the current political developments and strategy to launch a joint movement with the aim to restore democratic rights of the people.
