Varanasi, Oct 26: In a major haul of explosive material, police today seized about 14,000 kg of carbide from a truck here and arrested three persons. The explosives kept in 280 drums were seized when the vehicle was searched this morning during a routine checking, Senior Superintendent of Police Subhash Chandra said. He said the explosives weighing 13,950 kg were booked for Kanpur from Jaygaon in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on September 26.
However, the SSP said, it was suspected that the explosive material was being brought here to create disturbances. Three persons, including the driver and cleaner of the truck have been arrested in this connection, he said. Bureau Report
