Lucknow, June 19: Two days after Chief Minister Mayawati's statement that former minister Amar Mani Tripathi would be re-inducted into the ministry if he was given a 'clean chit' by the slain poetess' family members, Madhumita Shukla's mother today said that she had "not levelled" any allegations against the minister. "I have not levelled any charges against Tripathi and hence his dignity should be restored," Madhumita's mother Shanti Devi said in a letter faxed to Uttar Pradesh Governor, Chief Minister and the state police chief today.

Giving this information here, State Principal Secretary (home) Pradeep Kumar told reporters that the letter was received today.

Shanti Devi, however, has not confirmed the government claim.

Kumar said she refused to speak to home department officials, who had visited her, to confirm the letter.
