Chandigarh, Nov 17: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal today demanded resignation from Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder for allegedly publicly humiliating the state during his campaign for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh yesterday.
"The Chief Minister's conduct and his public remarks about his state and its people have shocked everyone in Punjab. Any self-respecting chief minister would have been ashamed to say the things he said there. But this is typical of Punjab Congress leaders who have always let down their state to please their high command," Badal said in a statement.
Badal was reacting to Amarinder's reported statement at Bhopal yesterday in which the Chief Minister had asserted that Punjab lagged far behind Madhya Pradesh in matters of development.
If Punjab was lagging behind Madhya Pradesh in development, does the Chief Minister any right to continue in office? he asked.
