Bhopal, July 26: Union Food Minister Sharad Yadav today said that the Centre and states must refrain from blaming each other for the weaknesses inherent in the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the country. A number of suggestions were made at the all-party meeting convened in Delhi by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee yesterday to plug the loopholes in the pds to enable the needy to get its benefit, Yadav told reporters here.

The government will soon take concrete decisions on these recommendations so that distribution of foodgrains through the PDS is carried out in a proper manner, he said.

The Prime Minister would shortly convene a conference of all chief ministers to discuss the suggestions made at the all-party meeting, Yadav said.
Effective steps would be taken on the basis of the conclusions of the proposed chief minister's meet to streamline the PDS, the Janata Dal (United) president said.

Yadav was speaking to journalists after a function held here to mourn the death of Jd-U's Madhya Pradesh unit president Bachchan Nayak.
