New Delhi, Apr 06: Rural development minister Shanta Kumar resigned from the Union Cabinet today. According to sources, Kumar met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee this evening and submitted his resignation. They said that the Prime Minister forwarded his resignation to President A P J Abdul Kalam for acceptance.
Kumar was in the eye of a storm after the defeat of the ruling BJP in the recent assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and was pulled up by the party leadership for his outbursts against the then chief minister P K Dhumal.
