Tokyo, Aug 05: Japan will send 19.5 million yen (163,000 dollars) worth of emergency aid in tents, water purification kits, generators and other supplies to flood-hit Pakistan, the foreign ministry said today. At least one million people in southern Pakistan have been left marooned, homeless and facing disease or snakebites as a result of floods caused by the worst monsoon rains in a decade, local officials said.

The death toll from 24 days of flooding in Sindh province hit 153 over the weekend, bringing the countrywide toll to 162. Bureau Report
