Patna, Apr 05: Railway minister Nitish Kumar is richer than RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav, according to the affidavits filed by both the leaders in their nomination papers for the coming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. Kumar had assets to the tune of Rs 22.94 lakh in his name, while Yadav owned assets totaling Rs 20.8 lakh. The valuation of immovable properties of Kumar (22.65 lakh) is more than that of Yadav (16 lakh).
According to the affidavit, Yadav had several cases pending against him related to economic offences and amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income. The affidavit mentioned that court had taken cognizance in seven cases, of the multi-crore fodder scam case. Yadav had seven SLPs and the court had taken cognisance in some of them.
On the other hand, Kumar maintained a clean image with no criminal or civil case against him. He had no debt on him.
If the properties of the family members, including wife and kids, of both Yadav and Kumar was considered, Yadav had total movable and immovable assets worth Rs 80.8 lakh in the name of his wife and kids, while Kumar had assets just to the tune of Rs 33.3 lakh in the name of his wife and son. According to the affidavit, wife of Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi owned assets worth Rs 39.02 lakh in which she had land and house worth Rs 21 lakhs. She had a bank balance of Rs 7.78 lakh, national saving certificate of Rs two lakhs and jewellery worth Rs 2.6 lakh.
On the other hand, Manju Kumari Sinha, wife of Nitish Kumar owned movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 10.36 lakh in her name in which she had a bank balance of Rs 5.1 lakh. Nitish’s wife possessed jewellery worth Rs 3.02 lakh. She had purchased Kisan Vikas Patra of Rs one lakh and NSC of Rs 80,000.
Nishant, the son of Kumar, had Rs 70,742 in UCO bank Mesra branch in Ranchi.
Compared to Kumar, Yadav had amassed more assets for his kids. Daughters of Yadav possessed bank balance and properties to the tune of Rs 10.2 lakh while his sons had assets up to Rs 10.8 lakh. Yadav owned a house worth Rs 16 lakhs whereas Kumar owned a flat in New Delhi priced at Rs 1.2 lakh and an ancestral house to the tune of Rs 9 lakh.
Yadav had NSC of Rs 50,000 while Kumar had no such saving certificates in his name.
Both the leaders owned a Maruti car. However, Yadav had a military disposal jeep in his name in addition.
