Paris, July 09: America's 100 metre world record holder Tim Montgomery has pulled out of the third Golden League meeting in Rome on Friday, the competition's organisers announced yesterday.
The 28-year-old, who has missed meetings in Lausanne, Switzerland on July 1 and at Paris on July 4, is spending time in the USA with his family.
The sprinter's girlfriend, triple Olympic champion Marion Jones, gave birth to their first child, a baby boy, Tim Junior, on June 28.
However his agent Charlie Wells said that while he had been scheduled to line-up in Rome he felt it was better to train at home while he spent some extra time with his baby.
Montgomery had revealed after the birth of Tim Junior that he had not been present at the births of his two previous children and added he was going to ring them and tell them how guilty he felt about that.

"He (Montgomery) was scheduled but not competing because he wants to spend more time with Marion and the baby," Wells told reporters. "He's training and spending time with the family."

Wells though said he would like to see Montgomery return to European circuit and get some races under his belt before the world championships which start in Paris on August 23.

"Hopefully, I'd like to have him compete in the first week of August.
