Mumbai, Jan 19: 'One vision, one world', penned by President A P J Abdul Kalam and set to tune by music wizard, A R Rehman, would be performed as part of a grand musical concert in aid of children, to be held on Republic Day here. The concert, to be held at the Cricket Club of India, based on the theme `I believe a better world is possible', has been organised by `Save The Children India', (STCI), a Mumbai-based NGO, in collaboration with Tata Group. The concert, would kick off with mega star, Amitabh Bachchan, reciting the prose penned by the President followed by the piece set to music by Rehman.
"The prose has been changed a bit to fit into a lyrical format for musical rendition," Rehman told reporters today. "We also have the Hindi version of the song", he said adding, that over 100 children would be performing at the concert. "They would be playing various percussion instruments and singing the song," Rehman said.
On his selecting Kalam's prose to be set to music, he said, "Over a year ago, I had received a call from the President, whether the piece could be set to music, and I had a look, I knew it could be done. The piece was played earlier at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the President loved it."
The one-and-half-hour concert would also feature other selected musical pieces, including `Maa tujhe salaam', Gurus of Peace, Chhoti si Asha' as well as a dance rendition by Tanushree, the music wizard said. "The concert would be different from my other concert as it would focus on children," he said.
