New Delhi, July 05: In another twist to the CAS tale, the government -- after a seven-hour long deliberation with broadcasters, multi service operators and cable operators, -- on Friday announced that it is working towards deferring roll out of conditional access system in the four metros from July 15 to September 1, this year. As a prelude to the roll out, from August 1, all channels -- both free-to-air and pay -- will be available in the four metros at a rate of Rs 72 plus taxes. As part of the roll out plan each metro will be divided into four zones.
