Raipur, July 05: Coming down heavily on Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Swarupanand Saraswati today accused him of acting as a "pawn" of BJP and said Hindu and Muslim religious leaders should sit together to resolve the Ayodhya imbroglio. "The Kanchi seer is working like a ‘mohra’ of BJP on the Ram Janambhoomi issue," the Shankaracharya of Jyotish and Dwarka pith told reporters here.

The Jagatguru said all the Shankaracharyas had earlier resolved at a meeting that the Ram Janmabhoomi land should be handed over to Hindu religious leaders for construction of a temple and for that purpose Ramalaya Trust was constituted. Instead of acting at the behest of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Kanchi seer should have consulted all the Shankaracharyas for resolving the Ayodhya tangle, he said.

"If the Kanchi seer can talk to VHP leader Ashok Singhal, why not us?" the Jagatguru said. "If his intentions are clear, he should have discussed the matter with us as Vajpayee, (DPM) L K Advani and Praveen Togadia (VHP leader) are all one on the temple issue." Bureau Report
