Jammu, Oct 21: A three-member Pakistani team, headed by the chairman of Pak central water commission, Jamat Ali Shah, today visited the Rs 4500 crore state-owned Baglihar hydro electric power project in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, to make an on the spot study if the project is impairing the flow of water to Pakistani territory. Besides the dam site, the team, accompanied by Central government officials, visited three major construction sites, Chinab basin, and assessed the water flow at the Chanderkote project site, top official sources told news agencies here today.

They held wide ranging discussions with the officials of Union Ministry of Water Resources, NHPC and Jammu and Kashmir Power Devlopment Corporation (JKPDC) over the issue and the practical aspect of water flow level were described to them in order to remove any misgivings from the minds of the Pakistani team, the sources said.

The Pak team comprised Jammat Ali Shah, Azhar-ul-Haq and Waris Ahmed.
Shah told reporters Chanderkote project site that that they had come to inspect the project "as we had objections to it".

" Now we have completed our work and will submit a full report over the project to our government in Pakistan," he said.


The Pak delegation was accompanied by officials from the Centre, including A D Bhardwaj, G A Ragunathan and C K L Dass.
