Chandigarh, Oct 08: Slamming the questioning of the Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal by the Vigilance Bureau in connection with some corruption cases, Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra today said that an "emergency-like" situation was prevailing in Punjab. "The state government is following the path where Punjab could again be declared as a disturbed area," Tohra told reporters on the premises of Badal's residence here after vigilance bureau sleuths arrived to question the former chief minister. He alleged the government was adopting a "dictatorial" approach and people are not allowed even to stage protest. "All roads and bridges in Punjab are barricaded by police to prevent Akali workers to reach at Badal's residence," he said. The whole exercise, Tohra maintained, was propaganda to tarnish the image of Akali Dal and its leadership.
He said such tactics would further strengthen the Akali Dal.
