New Delhi, Dec 08: India has approached several countries including the United States and Russia expressing concern over reports regarding the Pakistan-North Korea nuclear nexus and said there was a strong likelihood of the weapons slipping into the hands of terrorist groups operating from there. Official sources said external affairs ministry officials were in close touch with officials of several countries including America, Britain and Russia over the fresh developments.
Pakistan and North Korea had been in spotlight over their co-operation in the nuclear field and recent reports suggested that Islamabad had despatched a large volume of special aluminium to Pyongyang for its uranium enrichment programme as late as July this year.

India has explained its position saying that if nuclear proliferation involving Pyongyang and Islamabad continued, there was a strong chance that nuclear weapons could fall in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists operating from its soil.
The sources have drawn attention to the announcement of the US department of state that during the visit of assistant secretary James A Kelly to North Korea, Pyongyang admitted to having a programme to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons.
India has stressed on the fact that exchange of nuclear weapons technology was a "part of a barter deal", which was continuing since the early 1990's in which North Korea supplied Pakistan with missile technology and in turn Islamabad provided it with nuclear raw materials brought by it from various sources, overtly or covertly.
