Patna, Feb 26: The ruling RJD in Bihar on Wednesday received a shot in the arm ahead of the Lok Sabha elections when Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic) led by former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav merged with it.
Yadav, a member of the dissolved Lok Sabha from Jhanjharpur, had parted ways with JD(U) a few months ago to float the new party following differences with party president Sharad Yadav, who now heads the JD(U) Parliamentary board following Samata Party's merger with it.

The proposal for merger was unanimously adopted at the SJD(D)'s national open session-cum-workers' convention here today in the presence of RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Welcoming Yadav and his supporters into the RJD fold, Laloo said the return of Devendra Yadav would lend greater strength to his party in its fight against "communal and fascist" forces led by the BJP and the RSS.

Former JD(U) vice-president Mundrika Singh Yadav, who had resigned from the party last Monday in protest against central ledership's failure to take action against its Lok Sabha member Arun Kumar for allegedly orchestrating an attack on him and his supporters at Jehanabad on February 15 in the presence of Parliamentary Board Chairman Sharad Yadav, also joined the RJD at today's function.
