A K Singh to be new CBEC chairman

Ministry said in a release today.
The appointment of Singh, a 1967 batch of Indian Revenue Service official, as CBEC chairman comes close on the heels of the appointment of Vineeta Rai as Revenue Secretary.
Rai will take the place of C S Rao, who is also retiring on May 31 and slated to become the new chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority in place of N Rangachary.
Sources said expenditure secretary D C Gupta may succeed finance secretary S Narayan, who is retiring in June end.
Narayan is a strong contender for heading the interim Pension Fund Regulatory Authority, which is expected to be constituted soon.
Additional secretary Adarsh Kishore, who is looking after multilateral agencies including World Bank and IMF, is expected to take over as expenditure secretary on promotion, the sources said.
The Finance Ministry, which has had about half a dozen changes at the joint secretary level in recent weeks, also has a new CBDT chairman P L Singh, who replaced P K Sarma. Bureau Report
