New Delhi, July 17: The United States should review its policies towards the rest of the world so that an atmosphere of peace is created world over, pro-Taliban Pakistani leader and chief of Jamiat-Ulema Islam Fazal-ur Rahman today said. "There is an immediate need for the US to review its policies and let peace prevail world over," Rahman, who is on a visit to India, told reporters here after arriving from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh.

He claimed that the US intelligence agency, CIA, was yet to come out with any concrete evidence about who was behind September 11, 2001 attacks on World Trade Center and Pentagon. "So why were people of Afghanistan punished unnecessarily," he asked.

Rahman, who is leading a four-member JUI delegation to India said, "Similar is the case with Iraq. The US contended that there were weapons or mass destruction but so far none have been found." "So why were the people in Iraq punished," he asked.

Asked about his reaction to India's decision of not sending troops to Iraq, he said, "I welcome it and hope that the same will be taken by Islamabad regime."

To a question about his party's role in Afghanistan, he said, "It is the internal matter of people of Afghanistan. We extend support to Afghan Millat as well as to Afghan government."

He denied reports that Pakistan would be recognising Israel as a country.
