Jatiyo party chairman and former president H M Ershad on Friday said his party would favour creation of eight separate provinces and introduce a federal system of government in the country.
He said each province would have a legislature, which would help decentralise the existing scenario and go a long way to prevent influx of the people from the rural areas to the national capital.

He said that large number of important offices would have their set ups in the concerned new provinces and many public sector organisations would have their headquarters in some of the provinces, which might be carved out for better services to the people.
Mr Ershad, who held the office of the army chief and six years as President of the nation, was addressing the television about his party's electoral promises.
