New Delhi, Jan 12: Former Chattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi today did not appear before the CBI for questioning in the cash-for-MLA scam saying that he had filed a petition in the Chhattisgarh high court for quashing of the FIR. The former Chief Minister sent two of his lawyers to the CBI headquarters this morning stating that the agency could give a fresh date after the hearing on his petition in the high court on January 28.
His lawyers told the CBI that it would not be proper for their client to appear before the CBI for questioning until the high court took some view of the petition, CBI sources said.
The CBI, however, asked Jogi to appear before the agency between January 15 and January 17 for questioning saying that the process of investigations had to be completed.
The CBI had served notice to Jogi to appear before the agency today during which a sample of his voice would be recorded for the voice spectography test besides taking his finger prints.
CBI filed an FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code against Jogi, his son Amit and defected BJP MP P R Khunte for allegedly bribing BJP MLAs and trying to split the party after the December 01 assembly elections.
The sources said his finger prints were necessary as these would be matched with those on the currency notes allegedly paid by him to BJP MLA Virender Pandey and party's Bastar MP Baliram Kashyap. Bureau Report
