Key Biscane, Mar 22: Daniela Hantuchova crashed out of the Nasdaq-100 Open in a surprise defeat to Alicia Molik. The fifth seed took the first set 6-2 but then crumbled, losing the next two 7-5 6-0.
Molik had already upstaged Barbara Schett in the first round. Hantuchova blamed weight loss from her training regime.
"I felt I had nothing left," she said. "Anything I've eaten, it just disappeared because I was working so hard.
"So this is one of things we're working on now - to get a bit stronger."
Monica Seles was another big name to slip out of the competition as she was forced to withdraw with an injury to her left foot. The same injury forced her out of last week's tournament in Indian Wells.

Seles was seeded 10th, and her place in the draw has been taken by 'lucky loser' Evie Dominikovic of Australia.
