Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Monday courted arrest along with several other party members at Kachari Maidan in Barasat near Kolkata as part of its ‘Jail Bharo’ (fill the jail) programme. The programme was launched by the party on January 8 in protest against the recent hike in hospital charges, education fees and electricity charges in West Bengal.
Ranjit Panja, MP, and Kolkata mayor Subrata Mukherjee were among those to have courted arrest along with Banerjee.

Barasat SDO Baidyanath Mondal told newsmen that TC leaders and there supporters who had assembled at the ground were arrested and released immediately. Bureau Report
