New Delhi, Sept 30: The Delhi High Court today directed Punjab Police that the five Wimpy officials who were arrested in connection with a corruption case against Hardeep Singh, then PA to former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, could be interrogated only after serving notice to them.
"The petitioners (Wimpy officials) can be interrogated here in accordance with law after being served a notice," a bench of Justice Usha Mehra and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog said. The bench also directed that for recording the statements of witnesses, the competent authority of Vigilance Bureau will approach the witnesses at the place of their residence. Wimpy International Ltd Employees - Yash Paul Dhawan, R K Gupta, Sanjeev Kulshreshtha, Harjinder Singh and Devinder Singh - were allegedly picked up from the capital by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on June 13-14 and taken to the state in a clandestine manner without intimating the local judicial or police authorities in connection with the case lodged at Mohali against Hardeep Singh. Wimpy had alleged its employees were being harassed by the Chief Minister to settle a political score with Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh who had filed a defamation case against him and had sought quashing of proceedings against them.

However, on the submission by the counsel for the five officials that the petition also has prayer for registering FIR against the erring police officials and for taking action against them for violating the guidelines of arrest, the court fixed February five for arguments on the issue.
