Aug 10: Chelsea are poised to sign Parma striker Adrian Mutu for £12m.
The Premiership club have confirmed a fee has been agreed and will now open talks over personal terms with the Romanian.

Parma flew in for Saturday's pre-season friendly at Southampton without Mutu, with coach Cesare Prandelli revealing the player was on the brink of becoming Chelsea's latest big-money signing.
Mutu's capture will take Chelsea's spending to more than £70m and make him the club's seventh acquisition since Roman Abramovic's takeover.

"He (Mutu) asked to be released and we saw no point in stopping him," said Prandelli. "When you get an offer like this, it's hard to turn down."

The 24-year-old Mutu is regarded as one of the hottest properties in Italian football.
He began his career at Arges Pitesti before moving to Romanian giants Dinamo Bucharest.
He was brought to Italy by Inter Milan, moved to Verona before joining Parma last August.

Prandelli said, "He was the best player in Italy last year and he has all the qualities to be a great player in the Premiership.

"He's got an exceptional left foot and at 24 he can go on to be a top-class player."

Mutu has won 11 international caps for Romania, scoring one goal for his country.
