Barely a week after the employees' strike came to an end, the government secretariat and district collectorates in Kerala remained paralysed on Saturday with the pro-CPM, DYFI volunteers laying siege around them to protest the "anti-people" policies of the Congress-led UDF government.
Thousands of DYFI volunteers stalled the employees at the gates of the secretariat here and collectorates in district headquarters, police said.
Vehiclar traffic was also halted around the secretariat as protestors squatted on the roads.
Police said no major violence was reported from anywhere except a stone pelting incident in the Kollam collectorate.
Acording to DYFI leaders, the protest was meant to make the government aware of the "anger, anguish and anxiety" of the youth against the ban on recruitment clamped by the UDF government as part of its fiscal reform programme.
Senior CPM leaders addressed the protestors in different centres. Bureau Report
