Mumbai: Ajay Devgn today chose to avoid speaking on the controversy, which sparked after he released an audio of self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan admitting he was paid to tweet in favour of Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", which will clash with the actor's "Shivaay".
Ajay's directorial venture and filmmaker Johar's romantic drama are due for a box-office battle on October 28. Ajay tweeted the audio conversation of KRK and "Shivaay" producer Kumar Mangat, where the latter is heard asking him why was he writing flattering things about "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and criticising "Shivaay".
To this, KRK had replied that he was bribed by Karan to say good things about "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil". At an event, when asked about the issue, the "Singham" actor said it would be better if he talks about his forthcoming production venture "Parched", rather than any other thing.
"We are talking on such a nice topic and these people have made a film on a great issue, so, it would be better we talk only good things," he told reporters here at the trailer launch of "Parched".
Directed by Leena Yadav, "Parched" stars Radhika Apte, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Surveen Chawla and Sayani Gupta.
Set in the heart of parched rural landscape of Gujarat, India, the film traces the bittersweet tale of four ordinary women.
Ajay's 'no comments' reaction on "ADHM-Shivaay" controversy comes as a surprise as the actor was quite forthcoming in reacting on the row broke out 10 days ago.
The "Action Jackson" star had released a slew of statements-- first demanding an investigation as to whether Karan had bribed KRK or not and later clarifying he released the audio to only show the fans what KRK had said.
Both Ajay and Karan have a lot riding on their respective movies. Ajay makes a comeback to direction with "Shivaay" which he has said is his most ambitious project, and Karan has gone behind the lens with his Ranbir Kapoor-starrer after a gap of four years.
The actor also avoided directly commenting about the number of screens, which "Shivaay" might get, due to the clash. Ajay said the answer will be out on October 28.
