Chennai, Feb 13: Defence Minister and NDA convener George Fernandes today expressed optimism that seat-sharing between the BJP and the ruling AIADMK for the coming Lok Sabha elections would be worked out amicably despite hitches. Talking to newspersons at the Chennai Airport, he, however, ruled out the possibility of any meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today as was being speculated.
''I have no such plans,'' he said, adding he was on his way to Port Blair to address an NCC camp, from where he would leave for Mumbai.
On the rival DMK-Congress-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) having worked out its seat-sharing process while there seemed to be some problems between the BJP and the AIADMK, Fernandes said, ''All alliances have some problem or the other.''
Hopefully, the seat-sharing issue would be settled soon, he added.
On Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani's statement that the Ram temple at Ayodhya would be built, he said there was ''nothing wrong'' in the statement.
''It's only a question of in what form the decision on the temple would be taken whether by consultations between the parties in dispute or the court order,'' Fernandes said. Bureau Report
