Singapore, May 31: Defence minister George Fernandes and Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok tong have called for strengthening of ties between the two countries with a view to enhance India's participation in South East Asia.
Mr Fernandes is here to attend the second Annual Asia Security Conference.
''Mr Fernandes and Mr Tong briefly discussed the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), the proposed bilateral FTA between Singapore and India,'' a statement issued by the Singapore Prime Minister yesterday said.
The leaders agreed that the CECA was important as it would not only help strengthen bilateral relations, but also increase links between India and South East Asia. Bureau Report
