Tezpur (Assam), July 02: The flood situation in central Assam's Sonitpur district today turned grave following incessant rain in the northern districts and the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries, including Jiabhoroli, were rising alarmingly and inundated vast areas of the district, official sources said here. The National Highway number-52 between Mangaldoi in Darrang district and Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district was flooded by rain water and road communication disrupted since last night in several places, they said adding, that a large number of heavy vehicles remained stranded in Rowta.
