Mumbai, Feb: The ongoing judicial inquiry into the alleged escape of a Ghatkopar blast accused has so far drawn a blank with none of the eight witnesses throwing light on the whereabouts of the absconding undertrial. Altogether eight accused, including five policemen, have deposed before designated judge A P Bhangale and described the events of January seven 7 when a police jeep -- carrying accused Sayyed Khwaja Yunus to Aurangabad for investigations -- met with an accident near Lonavala. In a related development, defence lawyers have moved an application urging the court to examine the three accused in this case with whom Sayyed Khwaja Yunus spent most of the time in prison cell contending that their deposition might throw light on the whereabouts of the absconding accused. The three accused with whom Sayyed Khwaja was last seen are Dr Abdul Matin Abdul Basit, Shaikh Mohammed Muzammil Jamil Ahmed and Jahir Ahmed Bashir Ahmed Shaikh. The judge has yet to give a ruling on their plea.
