Patna, July 05: Bowing to pressure from the striking non-teaching staff of nine universities and 250 constituent colleges across the state, the Bihar government today said a secretary-level meeting has been called today to discuss the employees demands.

Higher education minister Ram Lakhan told the assembly that the government had received a memorandum from the agitating employees and a secretary level meeting had been called on July 5 to sympathetically consider their demands.
He appealed to the agitators to call off the strike in the interest of students.
The minister was replying to a debate on budgetary demand for secondary and adult education in the state assembly.
Around 53,000 non-teaching staff of nine universities and 250 constituent colleges across Bihar went on an indefinite strike on July one demanding timely payment and fair disbursement of salary grants and regularisation of services of their colleagues working on ad-hoc basis.
