Shantiniketan, Apr 02: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Shanti Niketan today and reviewed the situation here following the robbery of Rabindra Nath Tagore’s Nobel prize and other important documents.
Vajpayee who is also the Chancellor of the Vishwa Bharati University from where the medal was stolen, had expressed concern over the daring burglary. He took several rounds of the University and held a meeting with the senior delegation of the University to seek explanation regarding the security lapses. He also met CBI Director General A S Narayan and asked about the progress in the case till now. He will be meeting with the students community soon to listen to their grievances. The students held out a black out during his visit showing their anger and resentment over this issue. They also called for the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor for not providing proper security in the museum from where the medallion and other objects were stolen. The personal interest taken by Prime Minister has prompted CBI to speed up their investigation. Although no further recovery has been made by the CBI yet they are claiming to find vital clues into this matter.
