Kathmandu, June 06: In a bid to improve infrastructure facilities in Nepal, Switzerland has announced a USD 4.7 million grant to the Himalayan Kingdom for implementation of the second phase of the District Road Support Programme. The road project aims at providing better social and economic opportunities to the rural population and improve the living conditions of the locals, official sources said. An agreement to this effect was signed between the Nepal finance ministry and the Swiss agency for development and cooperation, which will disburse the amount on behalf of the Swiss government, the sources said. The six-year long project would cover six districts of the Himalayan Kingdom and aim to achieve the public-private and promote decentralisation at the district level, they said. Bureau Report
