In a sensational murder, unidentified assailants killed crime reporter Paritosh Pandey late Sunday night in Uttar Pradesh capital, Lucknow. Recently Pandey broke the news of the arrival of Nepal Maoists in Lucknow. Police and protesting journalists clashed near Raj Bhawan early morning on Monday. Working with ‘Jansatta’, the Hindi daily of Indian Express group, Paritosh Pandey was a crime reporter who was trying to keep a track on Nepal Maoists who were said to be visiting Lucknow for medical treatment.
The unknown miscreants shot five bullets on him. Police, however, till Monday morning did not have any clue about the murder. This angered the mediapersons in Lucknow and they went to the Raj Bhawan to register protest. Police used their rifles as their weapon and hit some journalists on head injuring many.
UP governor Vishnu Kant Shastri met journalists and assured them of the speedy investigation of the case.
