A US Congressman has said that India is deeply affected by the scourge of terrorism and asked Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to "do more" to win New Delhi's trust.
"General Musharraf's recent acts to crack down on anti-Indian Islamic fundamentalists are encouraging but he must do more to build trust with the people of India and to prove to the United States government that he is serious about fighting terrorism," Joseph Crowley, who visited India recently, said.
"From the bombing of the Stock Exchange in Mumbai to the explosion of an Air India jet to the most recent attack on Indian Parliament, the Indian people have been deeply affected by the scourge of terrorism," Crowley, also a member of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, said.
"Coming from New York with the attacks of September 11 so fresh in my mind, it was quite troubling to visit the Indian Parliament and to see the bullet holes left from the December 13 attack," he said.

During his visit to India, he had met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Defence Minister George Fernandes and government officials.
The US, he said, needed the support of both India and Pakistan to rebuild South and Central Asia and urged the two sides to ease the stand-off.
