Mumbai, Feb 22: All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra Vyalar Ravi today described as ''dictatorial'', the Shiv Sena-BJP threat to resign en-masse from the assembly and rejected the saffron combine's renewed demand for simultaneous elections to the assembly and the Lok Sabha. Ravi charged the BJP-led national Democratic Alliance (NDA) government with violating all constitutional norms and propriety in dissolving the 13th Lok Sabha eight months ahead of schedule. '' They cannot compel other parties and duly elected governments to follow their decision. It is up to the state governments to take a decision. The Maharashtra government has been elected by the people for a five-year and it will complete its tenure.'' Criticising the BJP-led government, the Congress leader said the NDA had refused to prorogue the Lok Sabha after it was adjourned sine die and had declared the date of the dissolution of the Lower House even before it was convened. He also assailed he central government for passing the vote-on-account without any debate. ''The Congress-led democratic front government in Maharashtra will not dissolve the assembly under pressure. We will follow our own agenda and not that of the BJP.'' br>Asked about BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s query that if Congress-ruled Karnataka can decided on simultaneous elections why not Maharashtra?’ Ravi shot back, saying it was not Mahajan's prerogative to comment on what the Congress should do. 'The decision to hold simultaneous elections in Karnataka was taken by the state unit and the government after consulting the AICC. In Maharashtra, the congress is part of a coalition and the party could not take a decision on its own,'' he noted. Bureau Report
