Dehradun, July 03: Accusing the BJP and its allies of trying to polarise politics on Ayodhya issue for political gains, the CPI-M today said it would launch a countrywide agitation to protest their attempt. "With the approaching assembly elections to five states and Lok Sabha poll slated for next year, the BJP and its friendly organizations, have brought their narrow agenda of communalism to the fore in the name of Ram Temple," senior CPI-M leader Brinda Karat told reporters here.
Describing the initiative of Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati on the Ram Temple issue as another attempt to "weaken" the judicial system at the "behest" of Sangh Parivar, she said the BJP is "peeved" over the recent excavations by Archaeological Survey of India that it did not offer any evidence in its favour. “We will launch a country-wide agitation in august over the issue," karat, who is also the party's central committee member, said.
The party also opposed the BJP-led government's move to send troops to Iraq stating that it must respect Parliament's resolution in which the aggression against Iraq was condemned. Referring to assembly elections in five states, she ruled out any truck with Congress and said the party would increase its strength in these states.
She welcomed Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's recent trip to Beijing stating that the government has now realized that "China was not its enemy number one". Bureau Report
