New Delhi, Nov 27: Government today declared a public holiday in Delhi on December 1 on account of polling to elect the legislative assembly. Delhi Lt Governor Vijai Kapoor issued a notification declaring that all government offices, local and autonomous bodies under the government of national capital territory of Delhi will remain closed on Monday because of polling.

Chief Electoral Officer Arun Goyal, meanwhile, directed the government to ply DTC buses since 3.30 am on Monday to enable polling staff reach polling stations in time.
Buses should also ply till late in the night to help polling staff reach home, he said.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation authorities have also been directed to start metro train operations since 4 am to facilitate transportation of polling staff.
