The BJP on Friday have charged Congress with "engineering defection in the opposition by adopting illegal means" and demanded a thorough probe into the split in the state legislative party, with 12 of its MLAs forming a new political outfit.
"It is nothing but the repetiton of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) bribery scandal. Similar to the probe in the JMM case, there should be a thorough probe in the split, so as to confirm who are behind the defection", union minister of state for commerce and industry Raman Singh, who along with minister of state for information and broadcasting Ramesh Bais, airdashed to the state capital, said.

"It was evident from the Thursday's development that chief minister Ajit Jogi misused his official power and machinery to lure the Opposition", he alleged.

Singh said that the state unit of BJP is meeting on Friday to discuss the matter. "We are meeting here to reach to the root of the incident and accordingly the future course of action will be decided", Singh added.
