Coimbatore, Oct 02: Though there was no quick fix solution to terrorism menace, the successful conduct of free and fair polls was a turning point in the history of Kashmir, BJP General Secretary, Arun Jaitley said today.
"At times terrorism invites emotion. The cost of immediate reaction is very high, but output very little" Jaitley told reporters, responding to a query on why government was not aggressive to end the menace of cross-border terrorism.
The greatest diplomatic step taken by NDA government was to replace Kashmir and put cross-border terrorism on the international agenda and putting pressure on Pakistan, he said.
"The entire world is acknowledging and the international media acknowledge that this is real free elections", he said.
Expressing the opinion that the very genesis of terrorism must be destroyed and not the system, he said that long drawn measures were also required, with a full assault on the epicentre.
