Qutub Minar to open first floor to public from September

"A decision has been taken to open the first floor of Qutub Minar to public by the end of September after completing the repair works now in progress and after making requisite security arrangements," Tourism Minister Jagmohan said in a written reply.
He said the matter of whether to bring Pushkar Brahma temple under the ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains act was under government's consideration.
In reply to another question, Jagmohan said Unesco has expressed concern over the safety of some world heritage sites including Taj Mahal and Hampi but denied that Taj has either lost its beauty or that tiles in the monument were cracking.
On tourism sites selected by the government for development this fiscal, the Minister named Ajmer Sharif and Pushkar.
"The tentative development plan includes provision of suitable accommodation and public conveniences at Ajmer Sharif and development and protection of Pushkar Lake and Ghats".
He said foreign tourist arrivals to India fell to 2.36 million in 2002 from 2.54 million in the previous year but growth rate of 12.5 per cent was seen between October 2002 and June 2003 in such arrivals.
