Islamabad, Nov 24: Welcoming India's positive reaction to Pakistan's decision to observe a unilateral ceasefire along Line of Control (LoC) from Eid day, Pakistan today said its ceasefire offer extended to entire Kashmir region which also included the Siachen glacier.
Expressing happiness over India's response to Pakistan's offer, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri told reporters here that he presumed there was no need for a separate ceasefire offer for Siachen as the Pakistan offer included the glacier.
He said Pakistan Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali's ceasefire offer made yesterday covered the whole of Kashmir.
India earlier said it would respond positively to the ceasefire offer and proposed a ceasefire along the "Actual Ground Position Line" (AGPL) in the world's highest glacier, Siachen.
"Prime Minister's announcement applies to whole of Kashmir. It is assumed that all the territory of Kashmir would be included in that. As far as Siachen in particular is concerned, the general answer is that it applies to all parts of Kashmir,” he said.
On India's observation that the ceasefire would be durable only if Pakistan curbed cross border infiltration, Kasuri said "Pakistan's ceasefire offer addressed the India's concerns".
"If Pakistan is willing to stop the firing, it proves Pakistan's good intentions that we have no desire to infiltrate. India should whole-heartedly welcome this offer without any reservations,” he said.
