Srinagar, Aug 15: Three separatist leaders, including JKLF vice chairman Javaid Ahmad Mir, were today put under house arrest to prevent them from disrupting the Independence Day celebrations here, police sources said.
The sources said Mir was put under house arrest by Zainaka Dal police station as he was planning to stage a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk along with a militant-turned human rights activist, M A Untoo.
Untoo had planned to mark the Independence Day as a black day by parading in Lal Chowk wearing black clothes, they said.
They said another separatist leader, Bashiruddin of Kashmir mass movement, was also put under house arrest for similar reasons.
